Chilled & cold storage: temperature-controlled rooms, condensation, restricted access

A3 / Application

Chilled & cold storage

Temperature-controlled rooms, condensation, restricted access

The recurring problem

Low temperature affects batteries, hydraulics, operators and steel behaviour. Equipment chosen for an ambient warehouse rarely performs the same way inside a cold store.

Selection factors

What we work through with you

01

Cold-store suitability is a manufacturer statement

Whether a truck or component is rated for chilled or freezer operation, and under what conditions, comes from the manufacturer's documentation, and we do not assume it.

02

Energy and charging strategy

Battery behaviour, charging location and shift patterns need planning together, as does moving equipment between temperature zones.

03

Operator exposure

Time in temperature, cabin and heating options and task design are part of the equipment discussion, not a separate HR question.

04

Storage system choice

Density systems are common in cold storage; stock rotation rules and access frequency decide whether they are actually appropriate.
