Fleet and layout are one decision
Aisle width, beam levels and truck class are interdependent. We size them together and record the assumptions so the layout can be checked later against how the site actually runs.

A1 / Application
Ambient storage, mixed pallet profiles, multi-shift operation
Storage density is added until the truck fleet, the aisle width or the pick rate becomes the constraint. Fixing one of those in isolation usually moves the bottleneck instead of removing it.
Selection factors
Aisle width, beam levels and truck class are interdependent. We size them together and record the assumptions so the layout can be checked later against how the site actually runs.
A truck's capacity at the top beam is the working number. We read it from the manufacturer's load chart with the intended attachment and load included.
Segregation, crossings and blind corners are designed with the layout rather than marked out after commissioning.
Access for maintenance, charging areas and spares strategy are part of the specification, because unplanned downtime in a distribution operation is measured in orders, not hours.
